Originally from Ireland, Declan graduated from the University of Ulster in 2009 with a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Over the past 10 years, he has built up extensive musculoskeletal experience whilst working in private clinics in both New Zealand and Australia.
In 2019, he completed a Master of Sports Physiotherapy (distinction) from University of Otago in New Zealand. His time in the southern hemisphere allowed him to work with both professional and amateur athletes across a number of sports including Rugby, Alpine Skiing / Snowsports, Rowing, Mountain Biking, Gaelic Football, AFL, Netball and Football.
Whilst living in Queenstown New Zealand, Declan worked with professional athletes including Olympic, International & National-Level Alpine Skiers and Mountain Bikers. His skill set includes excellent clinical reasoning & communication skills, strength and conditioning, spinal manipulations and manual therapy.
Declan moved to Cardiff in February 2020, to pursue his goal of working full time in professional rugby. He will combine his role as a Physiotherapist at both our Cardiff and Cwmbran Clinics, alongside his position as a Sports Physiotherapist within the Cardiff Blues Rugby Academy.
